Let’s take a look at Jesus’s miracle of the loaves and fishes. It is here that we may find clues to performing a miracle.First, Jesus took the five loves and fishes. This shows us that when we have a need to make a demonstration, there is always a handful of grain, a little oil, or five loaves and fishes. In other words, there is always a starter. Generally, it seems so small that it is either overlooked or cast aside as worthless. Then, Jesus looked up to heaven and looked beyond appearances, thus erasing the thought of shortage, lack, or the magnitude of need. Next, He blessed the bread and gave it to the multitudes. The power of blessing is not reserved for the Holy places or the specially ordained person. It is an attitude of mind. With the right attitude one can see the oak tree in the acorn and the man of God in the newborn. Whatever you have, no matter how seemingly inadequate, bless it. Jesus then broke the bread and fishes. He broke through the barrier of crystallized picture of limitation. The shell is shattered and the inherent substance flows forth in a stream of supply. It is a timeless and inexhaustible resource.Jesus then gave the food to the disciples, and they in turn passed it among the multitudes. This is an action step. “Faith apart from works is barren.”We must step out on Jesus’s promise. We take steps in the direction we want to go.When the disciple distributes the loaves and fishes, the supply was given as it was needed, they did not wait until all the supply was spent. Our substance does not have to be a mountain high before your miracle is complete. The miracle you see is in the mind when you begin to give and serve and act as if you were already fully supplied.- Submitted by Prayer Chaplain Jeanetta Davis
